Hi! Meet the Schoonovers! They’ve been married since July 2022. Their story started when they matched on Bumble the night before Christmas Eve in 2021. Matt was visiting his family out of town for the holidays but he and Hannah video chatted every day until he got back and they could have their first date on New Year’s Eve.
If you ever have the chance, ask Matt about his journey to make it back to town for their first date. It’s hilarious! Their first date involved meeting for smoothies, going for a hike, dinner at one of Matt’s favorite local spots, and a New Year’s Eve party with friends of Hannah. They barely spent a day apart between then and when they got married six months later. They were so excited to start their marriage together that they opted for a shorter engagement and a small ceremony at their church surrounded by their immediate family to celebrate their love for each other.
Their marriage in the time since has involved many adventures including (partially) completing A Year of Dates, vacations, Matt getting baptized, sporting events, church, time with community, Hannah completing her master’s in business administration, Matt working towards finishing his bachelor’s degree in sports and health sciences: exercise science, and fun with our three puppies: Bender, Maya, and Amelia. Six months after getting married, they began trying to conceive and start their family. While that journey has been unsuccessful, they are excited to take the next step in starting their family through adoption and would love for you to join them in this journey by following along.
